Crazy Rich Asians Star Henry Golding Praises Charlize Theron in Upcoming Old Guard 2

Crazy Rich Asians star, Henry Golding, could not speak more highly of his The Old Guard 2 co-star and producer, South African actress Charlize Theron. Speaking at the recent Red Sea International Film Festival, Henry referred to the Oscar winner as a “legend of cinema” who is “absolutely wonderful”.

The duo worked together on The Old Guard 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the Netflix action film The Old Guard, set to be released on the streaming platform in 2024.

Golding, who was interviewed by charismatic Nigerian TV personality and actor, Ozzy Agu, in a ‘Snapshot on Actor’ Talent Days’ panel, shared his experience of being among the cast for The Old Guard 2. The pair shot the film at Cinecittà, an Italian studio, which Golding described as “one of the most historically infamous”.

When asked what is was like working with his famous South African co-star, Henry revealed:

“Charlize is everything you want from a lead and not just a lead woman but a lead of a project like this. She was producing it and so she would be on set every single day even when she didn’t need to be (and) she does all her own stunts!”

Golding said he also “really connected” with US actress Uma Thurman during the filming. “We had some wonderful scenes together.”

Referring to Charlize and Uma, Henry said: “We have these legends of cinema which I have such a joy to be able to partake and play with within these scenes. It’s addictive. It’s so crazy. I’m always looking for my next project to see who I can play with. I think that childhood joy should resonate throughout the entire project. Why else are we doing this? Why not but to enjoy these absolutely ridiculous situations that we find ourselves in and to create something that is going to last forever.”

He added: “To answer your question: Charlize is absolutely wonderful.”

Henry also revealed that he would love to film in Charlize’s home country, South Africa…
